Departing Corpus Christi Marina for parts unknown

Yes, we are finally leaving. Had a few setbacks but ALL were good as some major items were found and fixed and we are ready as is Sandpiper.
Our first leg is to go to and anchor out in Offett Bayou in Galveston Texas. We will probably stay there a few days. We like the area, have relatives there, the previous owner is there for us to ask questions of, there are lots of maintenance persons there, and our favorite eating joint is there.
Current plans are to leave the marina around noon tomorrow and only travel a couple of hours to Ingleside cove.We will anchor there for a couple of days waiting for a good weather window to go to Galveston. On the way to Galveston  we will anchor in Ingleside Cove, anchor in Aransas Bay, anchor in Matagora Bay, dock at Bridge Harbor in Freeport (probably top off fuel and water tanks), and then go to Offett.
We wish to thank our Dock Mates at Corpus Christi Marina for all there help in fixing/help fixing stuff on Sandpiper but most of all for being GREAT dock mates. We will miss you all and hope to see you again sometime. A really special THANK YOU to Mark and Randy.
so follow us on our SPOT and look for updates for what has happened and what current plans there are but going to the blog.

In the beginning

In April of 2003 Carol and Steve moved to Corpus Christi. Little did they dream then that at some later date they would take off in their boat to parts unknown with no real destination and no time schedule.
What they dreamed of then was being close to the water, walking the beach, enjoying fishing and boating in their deck boat
and being close to family with retirement a few years away. What happened was they got involved with some boaters who like to take weekend cruises and so they bought a bigger boat. A sport fisherman
that never got to fish but was a blast going to the weekend cruises. As time progressed, Carol and Steve said maybe we need to take a long cruise when we retire. So we looked for trawlers and then bought a sailboat.
She knew the cruising life so we fixed her up and got her and us ready. But there was family medicat issues that slowed us down for the next few years. So we did coastal cruises in Texas. Yes, that really made us ready to go on a long cruise. By the time that family issues relaxed, Carol and Steve thought a trawler would be the best bet for them to do their cruise. So we now own m/v Sandpiper
and will start our cruising adventure soon.
The start date is December right after Christmas with our first great grandson when a good weather window is available. In general our path is to leave Corpus Christi, follow the ICW to Florida, and then up the East coast to visit the son. After that we may come back down and then cross to the Bahamas or gosh knows. How long will we be gone? Till we come back whenever that is.
What we will do is try and keep this updated with where we are, what we did, the happening, and our guess as to what is next. If you want to see where we are, you can follow us on our SPOT at http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=071VoAvWRVqAHRqqF0L5X4IGXdMbjHFja
